The first-ever Spring show of agricultural and construction machinery
and equipment, coupled with animal health care products, proved
such a resounding success that organisers are now looking to make
it an annual event in the northern calendar.

Crowds gather for the machinery parade

                | | Around 1,000 people flocked to the inaugural show at Skipton Auction
Mart (Tuesday, Feb 26), one of the biggest events of its kind to
be held in the region and the brainchild of two independent local
companies - agricultural machinery and equipment specialist Guy
Machinery, based at the auction mart, and animal health products
specialist Pearsons Farm Supplies, of West Marton.
One of the highlights was a grand parade featuring the latest machinery,
including tractors, mowers, balers, all-terrain vehicles, telehandlers
and tankers, with running commentary provided by manufacturers’ representatives.

A charity auction in aid of the Leeds-based Candlelighters Childhood
Cancer Foundation, supported by proceeds from a licensed bar, is
confidently expected to raise around £5,000.

Guy Machinery and Pearsons Farm Supplies, generously supported
by their suppliers, put up the prizes for the charity auction and
              prize draw.

A trip to Valtra Tractors’ main production unit in Finland
was knocked down to farm manager David Pighills, of Bolton Abbey,
while a bid from Guy Machinery’s managing director Graham
Guy secured a quad bike experience day on offer from ATV specialist
Can-Am at its facility in North Wales.

Visitors were able to try out the latest equipment, view animal
handling and feeding systems, and a mobile sheep race new to the
UK. Some 60 trade stands set up stall to showcase their wares.

Graham Guy said: “The first show proved a runaway success,
reinforcing our belief that it fills a void in events of this nature
              in the North of England.”

Pearsons Farm Supplies’ Chris Pearson commented: “Feedback
was so positive that we will now look to make it an annual event,
            again incorporating the charity angle.”
