PORK has long been a favourite on the menu at Chinese
restaurants but now the British Pig Executive has come
up with a plan to make it even better. A leaflet extolling the virtues of Quality Standard Mark
pork has been produced in both English and Cantonese. As well as highlighting what the QSM stands for, the leaflet
also contains a series of mouth-watering Chinese recipes
featuring pork. BPEX Foodservice Development Manager Richard Fagan: "The
Mark represents a huge investment in welfare by producers,
processors and suppliers to provide consistent quality. "The booklet aims to show how the QSM can build consumer
confidence in meals. "Pork is the world's favourite meat but is generally
under-represented in catering. However, in the Chinese
sector that is not the case as some of the most popular
dishes are based on pork. "Pork is also a very healthy choice as it can have
as little as four per cent fat and is a good source of
protein, vitamins, iron and zinc." It is free and available from Karen Eaton on 01908 844114

sector or if you are a Chinese food business the booklet
                      is designed for you. Import
